Sonstegard Foods Company is a leading manufacturer and wholesaler of shell eggs along with powdered, liquid and frozen egg products. Our Sioux Center location has an immediate opening for Quality Assurance Coordinator/Office Assistant. This position is primarily responsible for performing activities related to the accurate processing of invoices, helping organize and maintain office common areas, managing supplies, assisting with inventory management, greeting and directing visitors, answering phones, implementing and following all quality assurance policies and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS
• Ensures GMPs, HACCP, Food Safety & Quality, SSOP & SQF standards are met in all areas of USDA/FDA manufacturing & warehousing.
• Knowledge of or willing to learn SQF regulations (Safe Quality Food) as part of industry standards.
• Communicates with personnel regarding product quality & food safety issues.
• Maintains and reviews quality assurance paperwork with accuracy.
• Assists with all clerical aspects of the quality assurance department.
• On-line auditing that consists of the facility, product temperatures, weights, GMP observances, food safety & quality, etc.
• Assists management with special projects.
• Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting a visual and measurement test, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
• Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and calling for repairs.
• Maintain safe work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

• HACCP qualification
• Proven experience as a back-office assistant, office assistant or similar role
• Knowledge of “back-office” computer systems (ERP software)
• Working knowledge of office equipment
• Thorough understanding of office management procedures
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Analytical abilities and aptitude in problem-solving
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
